Rescuing a Sanei Waddle Dee Plush (+Update)

ENtw7SWWwAICMRL

This is a Waddle Dee plush. As you can see, it’s in really rough shape. I bought him for only Q25 (roughly $3.25) at some hobby shop over 4 months ago. I felt so bad for him, plus the fact he was really cheap and a Kirby plush (which is an uncommon sight in this country), I had to buy him.

Ever since I have taken care of him and has become one of my favorite plushes that I own. He’s a precious child I love him. Who did this to him? I don’t know, but he has a new place to live now. I wish to get more Kirby plushes in the future… Specially the legendary Noddy plush from the Takara Kirby’s Adventure plush set from 1993.

As a side note, I also got lasagna cat himself on the same day:

This was certainly a neat way to start the decade… If only it didn’t end up with a pandemic and everything. Since I have EVEN MORE time on my hands I will probably continue using this blog. Mostly about plushies and games I’m really invested in. I sure hope I get to use this more, despite not reaching many people.

Thank you for reading. Stay safe, everyone!

2012 Sanei Amy Rose Plush

Hello everyone! The 3 of you… heh.

I’ll make some blog posts about my projects, my plush collections and some random thoughts. Right off the bat I have to say that sometimes will be frequent and others… not so much so I’m not promising consistency here, but I’ll do my best… I hope…

For the first real post I’ll talk about the last plush i got in 2017: the 2012 Sanei Amy Rose plush! Look how cute she is!!!

This plush is part of a Sonic the Hedgehog plush set (go figure) made by Sanei back in 2012. It was only released in Japan and was never released in the West. This plush is considered the rarest plush in the set, selling for about 60$ to 100$ on eBay. This is because of how accurate and detailed this plush is compared to the character, alsoooo it’s super duper cute. Just sayin’.

So… how the heck did I managed to get one you may be asking? Good question, specially considering me not having the greatest budget and living in a not so economically stable country like this.

Well, it was just more of a miracle than a coincidence. Considering the plush is pretty expensive, I NEVER expected it to show up in Guatemala of all places.

I usually browse through Facebook at some hobby shops. One of those shops has a great variety of plushes at a relatively fair price. As a matter of fact, a lot of my new plushes from last year came from that very store. My dad usually picked them up while on work, since he travels through the whole week.

One day, I was checking the Christmas offers they had on the shelves on their page… and… LOW AND BEHOLD, THERE IT WAS.

It was right there, alongside a massive Sonic plush. I was… shocked, to say the least. This was the rarest plush of a very popular videogame plush set, ONLY released in Japan, and the ONLY way non Japanese people could get it was by importing them online. So how on Earth did it got here in Guatemala!? That’s a mystery, but I can safely say it was a miracle. I saw YouTuber PatMac’s video on the set, an I KNEW how rare and expensive the plush is, so I didn’t hesitate and messaged the store owner about the price.

65Q. That was their asking price. When you convert the price to American Dollars, that roughly translates to $8.83 USD… about 9 dollars… HOLY FRICKIN’ CRAP.

Of course, I was mindblown. This plush was only 9$, when online is about 60, sometimes even more. OF COURSE I HAD TO BUY IT!!! After a bit back and forth, my dad got it for me (maybe for cheaper considering it’s my dad), and gave it to me as a Christmas present. I just want to say I’m very grateful for what he’s done for me over the years, sometimes I can be a bit ungrateful, but I realized how blessed I am for having such loving and caring parents like my mom and dad. And I hope that I can return the favor to them one day when I get older.

So… yeah! That is how I got this plush! Not the most exciting story you’ve read, but certainly it was exciting for me. In general, my collection in 2017 was great, probably the best year of me collecting, and this was also the year I got back into it (thanks PatMac, my wallet appreciates it). And also to God, and my parents for taking care of me.

If anyone on the Internet just read this, thank you for doing so. I hope I’ll be able to keep posting about here soon. You can share it if you want, you don’t have to.

Thanks and hive a nice day!
